Many restaurants have a hard time riding the thin line between traditional and modern. Raffine succeeds in offering a modern take on presentation while displaying flavors that remind us of the French tradition. Some people might perceive it as an ambivalence but I'm fine with it. As long as it tastes good.
Raffiné (refined or sophisticated in English) is a newcomer in the dining scene in Korea and is located in the Apgujeong Rodeo area, close to the Dosan park.

5.0 / 완벽 그 자체! 환상적이에요.
Can't believe my last review was 2 years old. Since then Zero Complex has only grown to become, in my opinion, the most important contemporary restaurant in Korea.

The wine list is one of the best in Korea. Not because it is filled with grand cru but because it fits perfectly the food and the concept.

All menus show a lot of care and THINKING which is so rare.

It was also technically perfect, every cooking and seasoning on point.

Short review : the name is not the only weird thing about that place.
Longer review.
I rarely write negative reviews. I usually like to remember the good things.
Couldn't find many good things about this place.
While the noodles were okay and surprisingly well cooked the broth was far from acceptable.
It was a heavily Koreanized version of a tsukemen broth with what seems to be gochujang in it.
It was super greesy. It felt like it was made with recycled oil from a street cart.

Menya Sandaime Hongdae Branch.
I wrote a long review and my phone decided to erase it.
Long story short. Still pretty good.
Seafood based broth with well cooked tasty noodles. I asked to have the noodles 'katamen' so on the hard side and it was on point. The tsukemen broth was a bit spicy which was a tad strange.
Won't blow your mind but it's good comfort food for those of us who miss Japanese food.
I personally prefer the Itaewon branch but both are good.

Went to Pasto a while ago for a team lunch.
I went there 2 or 3 times after that and it became one of my favorite among the last year's newcomers.
The chef used to work with Santino Sortino and it shows. He is not afraid to season his food.
The quiche is absolutely not like a French traditional quiche but it tasted good so I don't care.
They warned me when I ordered that it would be different and that I might want to order something else if I wanted an 'authentic' quiche.
